Tank
'Tank'

Local artist ~ Tina Fong

Tina Fong lives in Seattle and has been working as an illustrator for many years. She's done editorial work for newspapers and magazines, and woodblock illustrations for greeting cards and books, including one series that depicts animals that are of particular relevance to Native American mythology. She works in different mediums--pastel, acrylic and woodblock, and is happiest if she gets to study animals and feature them in her work. She has recently started to do portraits of dogs and horses that she—or someone else-- knows. 'Tank' was one of the horses who taught her how to ride—and about appaloosas; getting the chance to combine some of the things she loves best--painting, horses, dogs and riding –seemed like it couldn't get much better. Well, the dog got left out; three out of four isn't bad.

Where Chava Naturals started

Chava Naturals proudly carries on the tradition of the Chamisa Ridge Equine herbal product line. We used these products ourselves, and found them so effective that when we heard the product line was available to acquire, we leapt at the opportunity.

Nothing has changed except the name. We offer the same select blend of innovative products and nature's most trusted resources—foremost among them, the herbs and herbal blends that have stood the test of time to help support, restore and enliven the body and spirit of your animal friends.

Chava Naturals is located in Snohomish, Washington.

LISA EAGLEY

Lisa is the owner of an equestrian facility housing over 40 horses, where she trains and cares for the horses and is an experienced riding instructor. Horses have been a lifelong passion and she has spent much of her life pursuing the best methods to keep her horses in optimal health. Working with local veterinarians, trainers and clinicians has helped to develop her holistic approach to horse health and nutrition. Mind, body, and spirit all have to work together when your horse is working at becoming a serious athlete. Optimal health is crucial when competing at a National level. Lisa has been showing horses since childhood, including Paint, Appaloosa, and Dressage shows. Currently she works with young children who want to pursue their dreams of becoming successful in equestrian events.

Along her life's path she became involved with herbal supplements to improve her own and her children's health. When the products from Chamisa Ridge became available it seemed only natural to include them in her equine nutrition and supplement program. For several years she has enjoyed and promoted the use of natural solutions to Equine health. The opportunity to be directly involved in producing a product as great as Chava Naturals (formerly Chamisa Ridge) fulfills a lifelong desire to provide quality care for her Equine friends.

TERRI INGLIS

Terri has spent more than 20 years in the corporate world helping organizations improve their customer service levels and maintain customer satisfaction. She left her executive role in the software industry to follow her passion for animal welfare, and it has been one of the most fulfilling life choices she has made. As the Executive Director of a nonprofit, no-kill shelter for dogs and cats, she is responsible for the overall success of the shelter, including marketing, fundraising and operations. Most of all, she continues to be passionate about providing rescued animals in the shelter with a loving, positive experience that includes proper nutrition while they wait to be adopted.

When Terri's sister, Lisa, asked her to join her in creating Chava Naturals, she jumped at the opportunity to carry on these quality products that she too has provided to her own horse for several years.

Product formulations

Our product formulas will remain exactly the same as the Chamisa Ridge products that you have come to know and trust for many years. These formulas were created by a talented group of clinical herbalists, chemists, ethno botanists, and animal health care practitioners. Also, and most importantly, we listen to our customers, many of whom are veterinarians and animal practitioners, and have great expertise in equine health and complementary treatments.

How do we keep Chava Naturals prices so low?

Yes organically grown herbs can cost 50-80% more than conventionally grown herbs. Visit the produce aisle of your local health food market and you will see what I mean. The short answer is that our herbs don't travel around the world three times before they get to you. We go directly to the sources. We buy locally whenever possible. We do our own manufacturing and ship directly to your barn, which enables us to pass the savings on to you.

How do I know your herbs are really organic?

That's a good question. It's a matter of trust between us and our certifying agency. There are a number of private certifying agencies as well as USDA certification and they each have different standards. Most of our herbs are certified by the Oregon Tilth Certified Organic (OTCO) program. OTCO is a USDA approved certifier and an internationally recognized symbols of organic integrity. OTCO Provides a system that combines strict production standards, on-site inspections and legally binding contracts to protect the producers and buyers of organic products.
